I’ve been reworking the RapidWeaver theme for my site, and it’s coming along well.
For any other RapidWeaver fans out there, I basically hijacked the the “Simple” theme and started customizing in my HTML IDE.
I’ll probably do a quick write up when I get all the kinks worked out, but till then, one of the fun little tricks is to right-click or control click your theme’s icon in the Themes drawer. You’ll see two options, duplicate, and “Show Contents”.
Both are handy for creating themes…but Show Contents is a winner. It pops up a Finder window open right to the theme’s assets. So you can make a change to a CSS file or whatever, and the updates automatically show up (usually) in RapidWeaver. Handy.
I’ve also started cobbling together my portfolio again. As part of my new “let the computer work for me” strategy, I’ve started moving my portfolio images into iPhoto.
This is for three big reasons:
This lets me whip up a portfolio without having to create a bunch of galleries, or export a bunch of JPGs or any of that silliness.
Bonus Tip:
So you want to add HTML formatting to your blog post in RapidWeaver? Type the HTML code as normal, select the text, and choose “Ignore Formatting” from the Format menu. Be sure to either select extra whitespace, or just don’t leave any whitespace, as RapidWeaver will close then open paragraphs around any block level elements, which could leave you with a big chunk of emptiness.
