I’ve been learning and working in .Net at the jobby job. And you know what? I like it. I run the MS “Express” tools in my Parallels desktop installation, and they are good, fine products for free.
Working in C# has made me realize that I am perfectly capable of learning Java…so I grabbed the Mac OS X version of the Eclipse environment. And you know what? It’s kinda purty:
It runs pretty fast too (at least in my limited experiments).
I think my main interest in Java is as a web-application development environment. Though I could see cobbling together a little applet at some point.
My earliest experience at Freightliner included making web user interfaces for J2EE apps. I got to noodle around in WSAD Studio and make markup changes to JSP files. Kinda fun stuff. We’ll see how it shakes out.
